Literature Text

Leaves that leave trees retreat
Rain rises up, out of the street
Wind changes direction against our cheeks
Footsteps retract into our feet
The world turns gray to green
and begins to spin again

So you see what is to come,
you know what you have done
You want to take it back, as you take your breath
Lost track, just what is left?
Time's hands wrap 'round your neck,
as you recall her peck
To know her lips, to know such bliss
Worlds get smothered feral black
There is something that you lack,
and it asphyxiates you

Fluids return through IV's
Doctors step in, as there's an empty seat
Stitches pull out, wounds bleed
Clock arrows turn back to me,
the numbers add to three
Getting darker, losing light
Unable to pause, unable to rewind
Disappear into signs, to remind,
we'll all pass as the wind, tonight
